Jack London Square

Work while at SWA. Located in Oakland, California Jack London Square is an existing six-block urban waterfront consisting of retail and restaurants set on a continuous, linear urban plaza. Proposed urban infill includes two story retail, a hotel, the Market Hall, multi-use plazas and parking. The master plan design extends the city to the waterfront by creating public waterfront spaces which can sup- port a variety of programmatic uses. Palm trees give these spaces vertical scale and concrete seat walls and hedges break up the spaces and create more intimate places to occupy. Throughout the year these areas will accommodate an outdoor farmers market, a boat show and other programmed activities. Market Hall, the main building, is registered for LEED certification
